A Know Waste Ambassador is a Louisville resident who is passionate about reducing waste, recycling, and composting.


Know Waste Ambassadors will receive comprehensive training in solid waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting and serve as waste experts in their communities.


Know Waste Ambassador requirements:

  • Attend initial orientation session and in-depth trainings on recycling, composting, waste management systems, and other waste initiatives. (Dates to be determined.)

  • Participate in educational tours of local waste facilities (virtually or in-person when available).

  • Share information from the program with your community.

  • Attend periodic sessions to stay up to date, provide feedback, and meet other Know Waste Ambassadors.

  • Fulfill 20 volunteer hours and an individual waste reduction project annually to maintain certification.
